AYILA sure of victory over Guinea

Super Eagles midfielder, Yusuf Atanda Ayila has boasted of the team’s chances against the Syli Stars of Guinea in the make-or-mar game between both countries to decide which will be at the 2012 Nations Cup to be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

Ayila, a regular face in the squad admitted that it would be a tough task, but the Eagles are good enough to win. “I think for every victory, there must be prayer backing it up. I want everybody to pray for us because we cannot do it alone. The coaches have done their best and we are all ready to give our best as well, but we must always pray for luck in the game.

“That is the most important thing for now. We are battle ready for Guinea, but we still need fans’ support because we want to make the country proud.

“We must play to win and we must also prepare for a tough task because Guinea is also a good side in Africa. With my modest experience in the team, I believe we have what it takes to qualify. This is a team of professionals; I am comfortable with the atmosphere of everybody in the team,” he told 9jasoccerboysblog.

STEPHEN WORGU eyes double trophies in Sudan

Nigerian striker Stephen Worgu has set his sights on lifting double trophies with his Sudanese based club, El-Merriek with less than four games to end the season in the Eastern Africa country.

The former Eyimba of Aba star returned to Sudan following his loan move to Alahly Benghazi S.C. in Libya, and he has justified the significance of his return by scoring five goals in seven matches.
“My return to El-Merriekh is for good, I am happy to be back to the club. I want to win trophies, I have been looking forward to doing this and I believe the time has come to for me to do that.

“I think my return has boosted the morale of the team and everybody is happy with my return. And I am happy to return in a good form and be readily contributing to the dream of lifting the league title and the FA cup.
“We are already the favourite and we have been proving that to our rivals. This is a dream for me and I am happy that everything is come to past,” Worgu told 9jasoccerboysblog.

In 2008, Worgu was top scorer of the CAF Champions League with 13 goals and was courted by several European and African clubs including Egypt's Al Ahly, but opted to move to Sudan after El Merriekh made him a massive offer.

IDEYE targets more goals against Guinea

Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye has vowed to extend his goal-scoring form to the national team against Guinea if the Coach Samson Siasia takes a chance on him for the starting line-up in order to prove himself against the Guineans.
The talented Nigerian striker who has set his sights on scoring 20 goals this season was on target in the Europa Cup against Maccabi Haifa of Israel. Ideye sent his club into the lead at the 9th minute before the home team equalized to level the game at the end of 45 minutes.

“I always have the mind to score goals in every match I play, as a striker. I love to deliver for my club and my country. Scoring against Maccabi Haifa is another good effort and I am so happy about it.

“My dream of scoring 20 goals is still alive. I don’t want to score only, but to also win trophies and be part of the Super Eagles team to the Nations Cup. I think the joy of a striker is in scoring consistently. I am happy to be doing this; I want to continue doing this. I think my adaptation to the league has really helped me a lot in getting into my best form,” he told 9jasoccerboysblog.

The former Ocean Boys striker spoke on the Super Eagles game against Guinea in Abuja. “I think that is currently the most talked about game on the continent right now. I think everything needed to qualify is within us, we have every right to distinguish ourselves from the Guineans, though they are a tougher side as well, but I believe with the caliber of our star-studded team, we will be triumph come October 8 in Abuja.

“Yes, I will like to make the starting line-up to prove myself. I wish to score goals against the Guineans if the coach will give me a chance. But no matter what, we will beat Guinea to 2012 Nations Cup,” he finished.
